I also remember the very real responses of people afterwards.

I also think that forgiving yourself is trying to play God. Forgiving or not forgiving yourself as a false position of power versus the real and sometimes painful vulnerability of feeling God loves you when you know you're a screwup. Or worse than that the painful underlying shame that doesn't even have words to it. The only way most of us surrender to leading God in is to become broken enough that we chat perform in the way that defended us against our shame. We both know about that.

Keep writing! You have inspired me to dust off and all blog but they never really got started worse: deweydoc.blogspot.com

stewartstew wakemanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02184390252572034364noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3759569535251954469.post-65636214892937088992011-08-26T10:11:08.341-05:002011-08-26T10:11:08.341-05:00http://www.greatbiblestudy.com/forgiving_yourself....http://www.greatbiblestudy.com/forgiving_yourself.php

Hey Horst check out this bible study on forgiving yourself. I think for me, I at one point over analyzed the whole aspect of forgiving myself. I took that to be an arrogant idea of me being Christ.

What I have come to realize is that God, my Father Loves me with an extravagant love. Living in that love relationship is the most important thing in my life.

It's like the scripture to love your neighbor as yourself...if you look at that without going into the greek...it reads to love yourself before you love your neighbor...so that is one of our first steps to love others well...to actually love ourself first. Can we do that without forgiving ourselves? I think we can try to...but may fall short. I wonder too, if not forgiving oneself is an act of preservation, control and almost a sense that the person is somehow bigger than God?

These are just a few thoughts as I read this. Beyond all of this...we have a loving and faithful Father who extravagantly loves us beyond our imagination. Thanks for writing Horst...and getting your thoughts on the table.
