D is for... Determination, Dedication & Discipline

How's my mental health today?

Good.

I got my bicycle out yesterday and went for a bit of a ride. When I got home I decided it was time to write a few more blog posts to get a little bit ahead of this A-Z challenge. Coming up with a topic that begins with the letter D has taken several days. Completing this challenge is going to take a lot of dedication, determination and discipline

Since I deal with mental health every day the easiest thing for me to do would be to write about trying to live with clinical depression. But that's too depressing for me and I'd rather not go there. Besides, the bright blue sky and sunshine outside need to be enjoyed and depression is not welcome on such a day.

Overcoming my mental health issues requires determination and discipline. It's easy to just give in to the tough stuff but the hard work of recovery is much more rewarding than a defeatist response to the waves of depression or an exuberant, uncontrolled ride on the roller-coaster of bipolar disorder.

Discipline, dedication, and determination. If I employ these things to all aspects of my life I should be able, with God's help, defeat the challenges that show their face every day.

"It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer."

  3. Nifty piece of illiteration today. I too deal with mild depression by writing. It works wonders.

  4. This is some really good advice for all of us! None of us are perfect and we all have down days and get lazy with what is important in life.

Today is supposed to be another warm, sunny day; another day of encouragement, eh? :) It's good to stay focused on the positive. :P

  7. Almost any challenge can be overcome with those three D's. But, a bike ride on a beautiful day every now and then doesn't hurt!
